Dress Code

Actual Uniform:
- Khaki pants or knee-length walking shorts with BC monogram on right leg - (purchased at SKOBELJ'S at 7928 HWY 23, Belle Chasse); Uniform type pants only are acceptable; no Polo, Hilfiger, cargo, etc. Faded, tattered and/or worn-out uniforms are not acceptable
- Girls may wear a khaki skirt
- Red or Black pique style polo shirts with school logo(purchased at Skobelj's) - Shirts must be tucked in at all times with collars down.
- Official BCHS sweatshirts and official BCHS jackets - Any non-uniform outerwear worn inappropriately will be confiscated and held in the main office
- Black, khaki or brown belt
- Tennis Shoes or Black/Brown Shoes; All shoes must be closed in, meaning no sandals, flip-flops, slippers, clogs or backless shoes.
- Solid colored, long or short-sleeved shirts - white, black, red or gray - are permitted under the uniform shirt.
Book Bags: The school bags accepted for use on school property and/or school buses are to be made of clear plastic or see-through mesh. Bags with extension handles and/or wheels are prohibited.
Dress Code: The Plaquemines Parish School Board has adopted a dress code policy that shall be universal throughout the parish. These policies will be enforced from bus stop to school, from school to bus stop, and/or at any time students are under school jurisdiction. The dress code rules are as follows:
1. Only moderate hair styles are permitted;. Boys' hair may not extend lower than the top of a dress shirt collar.
2. Any style of hair which creates a distraction or a safety hazard shall be considered inappropriate. Fluorescent-colored hair (yellow, orange, purple, blue, green, pink, red or any other distracting color) is prohibited.
3. Eyebrows that are shaved to create a decorative design or distraction are prohibited.
4. Boys must be clean shaven. Beards and goatees are not permitted. Mustaches are permitted, provided they are neatly trimmed and do not extend beyond the codrners of the mouth. Sideburns that are excessive are not allowed.
5. Boys are not permitted to wear dangling hoop earrings; however, boys will be allowed to wear one stud per ear. Additionally, girls will be allowed to wear only one earring per ear. Girls' hoops are not to exceed one inch. Oversized stud earrings are not permitted. For boys and girls, earrings are to be worn in the ear lobes only.
6. Any additional body piercings such as nose rings, tongue rings, lip rings, belly button rings, eyebrow rings, etc. are prohibited. Body piercing may not be covered by a band aid or any other cosmetic covering or concealer.
7. Jewelry or clothing that can be hazardous to students or any other person is prohibited. Pocket chains and dog-type collar chains will not be allowed. Oversized belt buckles or any other oversized jewelry or adornment are prohibited.
8. Fingernails in excess of 1/2 inch (curling under) will not be allowed.
9. Students are not allowed to wear or carry cell phones, beepers or any other paging or electronic telecommunication devices.
10. Students must wear school uniforms as specified above.
11. All shirts must be tucked in at the waist.
12. Uniform skirts must be no shorter than 3 inches above the knee. Uniform pants are to have the traditional khaki pant leg. No bell bottoms, wide leg, or other non-traditional leg shapes are allowed. Slit or frayed pant legs are not allowed. Pants, shorts and/or other uniform bottoms with multiple pockets are not allowed.
13. Sweatshirts and lightweight jackets must comply with the school's approved uniform code.
14. Heavy coats and jackets that do not comply with the PPSB Dress Code can be worn to school. However, upon entering the school, the student must place the unapproved coat within his/her locker or designated storage area until lunch or for any outdoor activity. Only approved coats/jackets may be worn in the classrooms.
15. All pants, shorts, and other uniform bottoms are to be worn at the waist. A belt must be worn at the waist with all uniform bottoms. Hip huggers are not allowed.
16. All students must wear appropriate undergarments.
17. Socks/hosiery and clean shoes must be worn daily. Shoes such as flip flops, slides, clogs, moccasins, slippers or shoes with no ankle straps are prohibited. All string shoes must be properly laced and tied. Velcro flaps must be properly strapped.
18. Any garment, hair style, adornment, jewelry, or appearance considered inappropriate by the administration will be punished.
If the school allows special dress days such as "Spirit Days," the following rules apply:
19. Leggings, stirrup pants, and capri pants are not allowed.
20. Skorts, split skirts, and skirts shoud be no shorter than three inches above the knee. Skorts must not resemble shorts from the front or back.
21. Clothing or adornment which is hazardous to the safety of the students is unacceptable. Tommy hats (skull caps), sweat bands, and bandanas are prohibited.
22. Pajama Day and cross-dressing are not allowed.
23. Clothing, tatoos, and any other items worns or displayed by students mujst not contain or symbolize obscenity, vulgarity, and/or indecency; and must not advocate or advertise violence and/or alcohol, tobacco, and/or drug use.
24. South Park tees, tear away pants, fringed pants, or torn pants are prohibited.
25. Clothing that exposes the back, chest, or midriff shall not be worn. See-through (sheer) garments and/or clothing with skin or undergarments showing shall not be permitted.
26. Overalls with a short sleeveless shirt and any style sleeveless shirt will not be allowed.
27. No sweat suits, wind suits or jogging suits are to be worn.
28. Any garment, hair style, adornment, jewelry, or appearance considered inappropriate by the administration will be prohibited.
